Inversion Method for Hair Growth!

Inversion Method: Grow Your Hair 2 inches in One Week!

Hey Guys, Ginger Fox Here!

The Inversion Method is one of the most popular ways to regrow hair fast, and is used by many people. The premise behind this method is that hanging your head upside down will increase blood flow to your scalp and stimulate hair follicles to start working. Another added benefit of this method is that it is cheap and uses only natural products which will nourish your scalp and hair: making it healthier all-round.

The first time I tried this method my hair started out at 23 inches. By the end of the week it was 26! This was a really good result for me but of course the results will vary from person to person so don't worry if it doesn't work first time.

If after the first time you want to try it again, leave your hair for 3 weeks and then start the process again. This way your hair won't get used to having the oil in and the method should still be effective.

What you'll need:

  • Tape measure
  • Oils- this can be a single oil or a mix: coconut, macadamia, argan, olive, castor, almond etc...
  • A container or spray bottle to store your oils
  • A comb

Method

1. Measure your hair (from a centre parting).

2. Mix together some hair oil (coconut, macademia, argan, olive, caster, almond etc).

3. Massage the oil into your roots well.
.
4. Flip your head upside down to stimulate blood flow and massage for 5 minutes.

5. Over the next 7 days, flip hair and massage 5 minutes: only using oil on days you want to wash your hair.

6. Once you've massaged your head, comb and tie hair into a bun or a braid then leave to soak in for at least an hour- preferably overnight if time allows.

7. Measure again after 7 days, again from a centre parting to make sure the measurement is accurate.

8. Enjoy healthier, longer hair!

I would love to know if this works for you so let me know!

10 Steps to Healthy Hair

10 Steps to Healthy Hair

Hey Guys, Ginger Fox Here!

Over the years I have heard so many different Hair Tips, some that work and some that don't, so I wanted to share the ones that worked for me :)

1. Use a Wooden Hair Brush

Plastic Hairbrushes can be harsh on your hair and cause split ends. The reason I use a wooden brush on my head is firstly, it's more gentle on your scalp (and it feels amazing!). Secondly, the wooden bristles will absorb any oils in your hair every time you brush with it, meaning that every time you brush your hair the oil re-distribute through the strands. You can buy one here.

2. Cool Water

We all know that heat is damaging to your hair, but showering under hot water does the same damage. There's nothing better after a cold, rainy day than standing under hot water, however it does a lot of damage to your strands.

If you wash your hair under lukewarm/cool water: the oils in your hair won't strip out as much and your scalp won't burn. It is important to look after your scalp because your hair won't grow if your scalp is unhealthy. It would also be good to consider using a scalp scrub once in a while to avoid build-up of skin and dirt.

3. Use a T-Shirt as a Towel

Got an old T-shirt that you don't wear any more? Use it as a Hair Towel! Normal towels have loose fibres which your hair can rub against and cause split ends. If you use a T-Shirt you can reduce your hair's breakage significantly, thus helping it grow healthier.

4. Protective Hairstyles

If you constantly wear your hair in a tight bobble, over time it will put a lot of strain on your hair and it will cause hair to come out. On the other hand, wearing it down- especially at night- causes the same problem as with using a towel. Hair gets caught in the fibres of your pillow/ clothes and can cause breakage. If you don't feel like you'd be comfortable sleeping with your hair up: you can buy a satin or silk pillowcase. As the fibres are densely packed, it won't damage your hair.

Protective hairstyles can be anything from a braid to a bun, essentially any hairstyle that keeps the ends of your hair protected. I also like to rub oil into my ends before I braid it, keeping it hydrated and shiny. Here is a tutorial for a braid to wear at bedtime:

5. Argan Oil

Argan oil is a great moisturiser for your hair and can add shine too. You can use it in several different ways:

  • Add into a spray bottle and spritz over dry hair in the morning and comb it through
  • Rub into the ends of your hair after having a shower
  • Comb lightly into your hair before braiding it at night
6. Use a Hair Mask once a Week

Use a biotin or macademia hair mask once a week where you can to prevent the loss of essential nutrients reaching your scalp. Although it says on most packaging to apply after shampoo, I personally apply it to my dry hair 10 minutes before I get into the shower and then shampoo and condition the ends as normal. The reason I do this is I always find if I use it after shampoo, it is very difficult to rinse out, and my hair ends up greasy.

7. Biotin or Vitamin B12

I also take Biotin tablets to help my hair and my nails to grow healthier. If you don't want to buy tablets then just eat some vitamin rich foods such as:
  • Mackerel
  • All Bran
  • Beef
  • Eggs
8. Massage your Scalp

As I said before, you can't grow healthy hair without a healthy scalp. Massaging your scalp can help to stimulate blood flow to your hair follicles and promote hair to grow. You can buy a head massager fairly cheap from amazon: click here to have a look.

9. Avoid Heat

This is a major point if you want your hair to grow healthily. Heat is the main cause of damage to your delicate locks and should be avoided wherever possible. If you absolutely need to use heat; always apply a heat protection spray first.

If you like to curl your hair, there is a few options which you can do without using heat:

Headband Curls:

This method of curling can be done within 5- 10 minutes and I can say from experience that these curls last amazingly! Here is a link on how to do it:

Twist Braids:

If you find the headband curls a little TOO curly; this method might suit you better as you can adjust how tight you make your curls with this method. Here is a link:

10. Don't wash your Hair too much!

You might be thinking 'Eww that's disgusting!' But honestly, washing your hair everyday is one of the worst things you can do. When you wash your hair, you strip it off all the essential oils which keep it healthy and glossy- therefore drying out your hair. This is why conditioner is so important to use.

If you wash your hair every day, it doesn't give your body chance to reproduce those natural oils, and in turn this can lead to dry and wiry hair. Ideally you want to be waiting 3-4 days between washes, this makes sure that your hair is getting all the nutrients it needs to grow healthy and thicker. If you find this difficult to do, or think your hair will be too greasy; work your way up to it. For example start of by washing it every other day, then after a few weeks add a day onto that. Your body will adapt. And as an extra help, invest in some dry shampoo to help you through that last day or so. Click here to have a look.

That's it!

I hope these tips will help you to grow thicker, healthier hair!

How to keep Natural Red Hair Vibrant

Keeping your Hair RED!

Hi Guys, Ginger Fox here!

So over the years my bright ginger hair began to darken, which is no good if you're proud of your copper locks like I am. After some time I decided to search the internet for clues on how to stop my hair losing its shine and vibrancy. It took a lot of looking before I found some tips which I would like to share with you.

Conditioner

This might seem obvious, but redheads have thicker and drier hair by nature, so it is really important to condition your hair regularly. I personally condition the ends of my hair every time I wash it, either that or if I forget I put on a leave-in conditioner like this one to stop my hair drying out and becoming wiry.

Another point I want to make here is to use Sulphate-free Shampoo and Conditioner wherever possible. Sulphates are essentially what makes your shampoo lather up into a thick, bubbly foam. Haircare companies use sulphates because they are cheap as a detergent, however they can cause your hair to become frizzy and can damage your scalp too. There are many brands out there that make Sulphate free Shampoos and Conditioners. Click here to see a list.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a great spice to pair with ginger in cooking, but it turns out it also pairs well with ginger hair! Cinnamon can help to stop your hair from fading and can even lighten your colour. So if like me, you struggle with your hair getting darker- it might be time to turn to cinnamon for help.

What you'll need:

1tbsp Cinnamon                      1 tbsp Conditioner (sulfate free)

All you need to do for this is apply your cinnamon conditioner all over slightly damp hair and leave for 30 minutes. After this, wash your hair as normal and enjoy how spicy your hair smells! Try and do this once a week until you see a difference in colour. Maybe even take a photo of your hair each week so you can see if it is working for you :)

Colour Depositing Shampoo/ Conditioner

If you're anything like me, dying your hair is a big no-no. For some reason if I try to dye my hair a light auburn or copper colour, my hair ends up Mahogany instead. A while ago I was on Everything for Redheads website, and I spotted that they had colour depositing shampoo. What this does is, rather than change the colour of your hair like dye, it helps to enhance the natural copper and red tones in your hair. You can buy it here.

And if you don't want to buy a whole bottle of shampoo, Superdrug have a colour enhancement treatment which only costs £1.45 and you can use it a couple of times too. You can find it here. With this treatment, you can just wash your hair as normal then apply this as a conditioner and leave it for around 5-8 minutes. This treatment works particularly well on lighter hair.

Cranberry Juice

Cranberry Juice doesn't just taste great, it also doubles up as an awesome hair rinse.

What you'll need:

Cranberry Juice (1 carton)               A comb             A Hair Clip

1. Wash your hair as normal, rinse out any product.
2. Pour the cranberry juice over your head, massaging it through your roots.
3. Comb through your hair to make sure that the juice is evenly distributed through the hair.
4. Clip up your hair and leave to set for either :

* for light ginger- 30 minutes
* for bright/ mid ginger- 45 minutes
*for auburn and deep red- 1 hour

5. Rinse out well and condition the ends of your hair. Use once a week for a constant effect, or just as a quick fix for an occasion!

Peppermint Oil

Using peppermint oil is not only good for your colour, but it smells amazing!
What you'll need:
2 tbsp peppermint oil               1 cup of water             A spray bottle (optional)
1. Mix the peppermint oil in 1 cup of water. Heat the mix in the microwave for a couple of minutes and let it to cool slightly.
2. Either put the mix in a  spritz bottle and spray your hair while it’s wet or you can add it to your conditioner.
3. Leave for 5 minutes and rinse out.
And that's it! Hopefully all of these tips will help you keep your red hair bright and healthy!
